The government estimates that around 6.5 million households across the UK are eligible under the ECO4 scheme, which could contribute towards free funding towards solar panels. You can apply if you or your household receives child tax credit (CTC), universal credit (UC), housing benefit, pension credit savings credit, working tax credit, pension credit guarantee, income-related employment and support allowance (ESA), income support (IS) or income-based jobseekers allowance (JSA). 

How does the LA Flex Scheme help?

Compared to ECO4, ECO4 has reduced eligibility. However, the local authority flexibility eligibility (LA Flex) scheme may correct this in your area. It gives local governments the authority to expand eligibility to more benefits, such as constant attendance allowance or disability living allowance (DLA), and not just those listed above. As a result, even more home may be able to qualify for free funding towards solar panels.
