Energy Saving Grants for Scottish households

Grants for households in Scotland are available. Landlords, tenants and householders can benefit from free government funding. Insulation, solar panels, air source heat pumps and electric storage heating can be installed for free. The scheme aims to reduce home energy costs by around £300 per household.

Who Qualifies For The Warmer Homes Scotland Scheme?

The following eligibility criteria apply for Warmer Homes Scotland: 

• You have lived in your current residence for at least 12 months
• Your property achieves the Tolerable Standard (i.e. your home must be in a basic state of repair and inhabitable). 
• Your home must have poor energy performance

Changes to the rules mean that Child Disability and Adult Disability Payment recipients can now access energy-saving grants in Scotland. The lower requirements to participate in the scheme also broaden the net, enabling more households to enrol. 

Warmer Homes Scotland says it will get in touch with people who applied in the past but didn’t meet the previous criteria. It also encourages householders whose circumstances have changed to contact it as soon as possible to benefit from the new support.
