Calling all off-gas properties in Scotland! The government is offering off-gas properties in Scotland an opportunity to save thousands of pounds in energy improvements. Grants are available for everything, from free solar panels to new electric storage heating and even air source heat pumps.
What an off-gas property is
An off-gas property is a residential address that lacks a mains gas connection – a category that applies to approximately 14 per cent of homes in the UK. Most of these properties are in rural locations and rely on LPG or oil heating to keep warm.
Energy saving measures you can get a grant for
Many off-gas properties lack basic off-grid energy-saving technologies. Homes are often inefficient and cold in the winter, forcing owners to pay higher bills. Moreover, some traditional heating technologies, such as oil, are polluting and produce a lot of soot which could cause harm.
Fortunately, grants are available for numerous upgrades, including:
- Free insulation for walls
- Heat pump installation
- Solar panel installation
The government will pay part or all of the cost, depending on the type of house you own, your income, and the improvements you want to make.
